On 9th November 2006 WGMA became the first Masters body to be recognized by FIH and to celebrate the Association's 19th birthday WGMA Board member and former Spanish Olympic player Pepe Borrell suggested that Spain should be introduced to Over 80 Grand Masters hockey.

Belgium took a decisive step towards joining those countries with an Over 80 team when they entertained England O80 at Wolu Sports Park in Brussels on Wednesday 23rd July.

Ludwigsburg, Germany played host to the WMH European Masters Championships 2025 for the age groups O65, O70, O75 and O80. This was the first time that there had been an O80 section and England faced old rivals Netherlands and O80 newcomers Germany.

The waiting was over for the over 80s England – Nederlands game. The historic city of Canterbury was the venue for this year's annual Over 80 clash between England and Netherlands, played at Polo Farm Sports Club on Thursday 17th April.

Over 80 international hockey continues to grow. For the past few years it has been just Netherlands against England but at Goslar, Germany in September 2024 Germany played their first international against Netherlands at Over 80.
